Bringing home a new puppy is a bundle of fun. Puppy socialization is the most important thing you need to concentrate on before your puppy reaches the age of 12 weeks. This puppy dog socialization period is known as the 'windowpane of opportunity' since it is the period of time when pet dogs learn best how to cope with the anonymous. Therefore, the more folks, puppies, objects, noises and environments the puppy can come in contact with during this period, the better. Puppy socialization to these new experience helps the doggie to be far more confident as a mature dog when put through unfamiliar events.
Ask any visitor that comes to visit to handle the puppy all over; coming in contact with the paws and feeling among the toes; playing with the ears; giving restrained hugs; playing with the mouth and opening the mouth putting your finger on the puppy's tongue. If possible expose your pup to children and show them the way to handle the dog properly. Always make sure when children and puppy dogs are playing along that they are supervised. You don't want the kids to experience too around with the doggy and you do not want the puppy dog getting so hyped up by antics of children and becomes uncontrollable.
