If this attitude towards cats goes back generations then one can realize why historians say the Black colored Death started in China. Where there are rats no cats then your rats dominate and that would have been a precursor for the disease to get near people. Now after i get back to China there are still rats playing around but not so many in the enclosure estates. There are many down by the river. Also they employ a efficient rubbish clean up system that will keep the locations very clean. Where I stay the rubbish is gathered everyday. That would also keep the rat inhabitants down. And with so many discarded pet cats running around the rats don't have much of a chance. I've never seen this but I think the government picks up a lot of cats. There used to be colonies of stray cats living in some places however now I don't see them any more.
I believe one of the reason why there were few cats around is basically because they used to eat them. And once in a while the restaurant kitty catches would pick up an feline they may find and take them back to the restaurant. I recall seeing felines in glass shows out the front of the restaurants. But somewhere between then and today they banned eating felines. So cats are actually not on the menu and today there are pet cats everywhere. Most of them began in someone's house and got thrown away, as most are incredibly friendly. Also they have this thing about abdomen worms. And in those days China was not as modern as now so stomach worms would have been a problem. Fleas aren't really a problem because they have tile flooring surfaces and real wood furniture.
Cats actually bring a few parasites, a few fleas plus some diseases and some can change serious however, not many. If pet cats were leading to too much sickness they might not have invaded our lives as well as they have. But there are still people out there who do nothing like pet cats. When I first visited China about 20 years ago there were very few felines living with people and very few wild pet cats. I was surprised because I've experienced cats all my entire life and I never thought people didn't like felines. But then in China people said cats carried disease which was it. I think that might have something regarding that cat sick you enter your vision. Not serious only a moderate problem for weekly Of course, if you were pregnant you'd to stay away from cats. I believe they were discussing toxoplasmosis, but if you get that whenever you are a kid it should not affect your baby. In addition they said cats were filthy but I don't think so. I believe felines are one of the cleanest dogs you could have. I feel that came from the cats eradicating the rats and mice. Because rats are extremely dirty pets then because the pet cats wiped out and ate them they will also be filthy. A soiled by connection kind of thing. Also there have been some big sewer rats working round throughout the day. Once I observed a rat and a kitty face off each other and the kitten wasn't much bigger than the rat. These were about a feet apart staring the other person out and the cat ran away. I'm not surprised the rat's pearly whites were bigger that the pet cats.
