Pet cats and mankind have been residing in harmony for quite some time but that has not always been the case. There have been times when felines have been nearly destroyed in the name of God. And what took place the Black Fatality reigned supreme for a lot longer than it should. So we will get back to the origins of recorded history to enough time of the pharaohs of Egypt. Here pet cats were revered as Gods and many were mummified to last for eternity. As the cats guarded the grain warehouses and killed the rats and mice that fed on the grain. Therefore minimizing famines, that were the curse of Egypt. It had been illegal to get rid of cats in those days, like cows in India today.
If this attitude towards cats dates back generations then one can understand why historians say the Black Death were only available in China. Where there are rats and no cats then your rats dominate and that could have been a precursor for the disease to get near people. Now whenever i go back to China there are still rats running around however, not so many in the casing estates. There are numerous down by the river. Also they employ a efficient rubbish clean up system that retains the cities very clean. Where I stay the rubbish is accumulated everyday. That could also keep the rat society down. And with so many discarded felines playing around the rats don't possess much of a chance. I've never seen this but I suspect the government accumulates a lot of felines. There used to be colonies of stray cats surviving in some places however now I don't see them any more.
