Cats and mankind have been moving into harmony for many years but that has not always been the situation. There were times when cats have been practically destroyed in the name of God. And what took place the Black Loss of life reigned supreme for considerably longer than it should. So we will go back to the beginnings of recorded record to enough time of the pharaohs of Egypt. Here pet cats were revered as Gods and many were mummified to previous for eternity. As the felines guarded the grain warehouses and killed the rats and mice that fed on the grain. Therefore minimizing famines, that were the curse of Egypt. It had been illegal to kill cats in those times, like cows in India today.
I think one of the reasons there were few cats around is because they used to eat them. And every now and then the restaurant cat catches would grab an kitty they could find and take them back to the restaurant. I recall seeing felines in glass exhibits out the front of the restaurants. But somewhere between then and now they banned eating pet cats. So cats are actually not on the menu and now there are pet cats everywhere. Most of them began in someone's house and got thrown away, as most are extremely friendly. Also they may have this thing about stomach worms. And in those days China was not as modern as now so stomach worms would have been a problem. Fleas aren't a really problem because they have tile floor surfaces and solid wood furniture.
