Cats actually hold a few parasites, a few fleas and some diseases and some can turn serious but not many. If felines were causing too much sickness they might not have invaded our lives as well as they have got. But you may still find people out there who do nothing like felines. When I first went to China about twenty years ago there were very few felines living with people and incredibly few wild felines. I was amazed because I've had cats all my life and I never thought people didn't like pet cats. But in China people said cats transported disease which was it. I think that may have something to do with that cat tired you enter your eye. Not serious only a minor problem for a week If you were pregnant you'd to keep away from cats. I believe they were referring to toxoplasmosis, but if you get that whenever you are a kid it will not affect your baby. They also said pet cats were dirty but I don't think so. I think pet cats are one of the cleanest domestic pets you can have. I think that originated from the cats getting rid of the rats and mice. Because rats are extremely dirty pets or animals then because the cats wiped out and ate them they'll also be grubby. A soiled by connection type of thing. Also there have been some big sewer rats jogging round throughout the day. Once I noticed a rat and a kitten face off one another and the cat wasn't much bigger than the rat. They were about a feet apart staring each other out and the cat ran away. I'm not surprised the rat's tooth were bigger that the felines.
Then your nine lives of the humble pet cat who only wished to help mankind by getting rid of rodents that taken disease took a serious move for the more serious during the dark ages. Where witch hunts and burning at the stake were the norm. Somebody who didn't like felines somehow connected them to witches plus they were burnt at the stake with there owners. That they made that interconnection I'll never know. It began with Pope Gregory IX in the 1232 who regarded the common house pet cat as diabolical. Then to make issues worse in1484 along emerged the greatest feline killer ever, Pope Innocent VIII, who decreed something such as all cats originated from hell and should went back to the fires of hell by flame. Pet cats were mercilessly prosecuted and were burnt so they would return to the fires of hell. It is amazing any survived because if you were caught with a kitty you were burnt mutually. I still go to cathedral and sometimes I simply wonder why. And of course the Black Death was in the background surviving and growing because there were no pet cats to kill the rats that carried the fleas that caused the condition. Then along came up the cat's savior Ruler Louis XIII of France, who in the 1630s repealed regulations and cats once more began to live. However they were still hated and killed for many generations after that. I have no idea if the Black colored Death subsided but cats once again secured mankind from the diseases taken by rodents. And the famines brought on by mice plagues.
