Cats are incredibly popular as domestic pets. They are also beautiful, fluffy and affectionate, but much more self-reliant than dogs. Most felines can be remaining alone all day long (or even right away) without ill-effect. Pet cats tend to eat less that puppies (with the exception of the toy variety of dog), and they don't require twice daily walks, intensive training, or constant supervision. Cats and kittens are a breeze to house-train, too. Just provide them with a litter-box and some litter saved in a quiet area of the basement, and you could be confident your feline will litter educate itself.
There are a few minuses as it pertains to cat possession, however. A number of people have problems with allergies to cat dander, which can make it difficult to be around felines. Cats, naturally, prefer to sharpen their claws. Many a pet cat has been recognized to eliminate living room furniture with the claws, although a pet cat scratching post can sometimes provide as a good choice for the kitty.
